Ark Of The Unicorns is an alternative gallery and project space dedicated to supporting artists, writers, activists, and organizations exploring ideas around healing one's self, others, the community or the environment. ‘Healing’ in the altruistic sense of engaging 'outsider' communities, exploring traumatic histories, sharing subjugated perspectives, building personal courage and inner peace, or determining sustainable practices in nature and its resources.
It is located at 1109 Maunakea St in the historic Chinatown District of Honolulu, Hawaii.
The space is leased monthly as a residency to each artist or organization with the understanding that they offer programming to the community during their residency, and on a First Friday. Each residency begins on the second week of the month and runs through the first week of the next month; culminating with a presentation or exhibit on First Friday. Participation in the residency is by invitation only but recommendations and introductions are appreciated. Should you yourself be interested in participating, or know of an artist or organization that would be ideal, please send an introductory email with a link to previous work to firstname.lastname@example.org.
